Warrior Champion
I have been following the story of a man through journal entries on the internet. It is an inspiring story. Larry Brakenhoff and his family were told he had a brain tumor the first week of July. He was admited and released from the hospital that week. He was able to preach at church that weekend (he is the pastor of a church in Alta Vista, Kansas). There have been many struggles over the past two weeks. He was scheduled to have surgery the following week but complications kept this from happening. He has moved to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. There were even complications with changing hospitals. They did the surgery this (Friday) morning. It was scheduled for 7:45am. Surgery was completed by 11;14am. The family talked with the surgeon and got a preliminary prognosis of a type of brain cancer. I'm waiting for the next journal entry. In spite of these struggles and this illness, every entry in their journal is filled with hope. Not of hope for healing, but of a hope of everlasting life. The things of this earth are temporary and limited by this fact. Pastor Brakenhoff's perspective is that God will use him the best way for God's glory. He has stated that if this will bring more people to Christ, then so be it. I want to have a faith this strong when faced with a similar situation. A faith to do whatever it takes to glorify God. Larry is a great example of what a real man is. He is what a man was designed by God to be. Larry will be with us on this earth or listening to God say "Well done good and faithful servant." These are the words I want to hear.
