Our rescue comes from God

I changed the header picture this morning to something that would display God's strength. Lightning and thunder have always amazed me. The magnitude of the power of this force leaves me in awe. The ability to shake the earth at a moments notice. I can't imagine the power it took to make this world and the sheer ease of the Creator in making earth- and all the universe. The earth aches with growing pains waiting for the return of a worthy King. We have evil abounding in the world. Yet it doesn't abound freely. God has set limits on how far this will go. I wish I knew what this limit was (or maybe the reason I don't is because God knows I couldn't handle it physically and emotionally. We have school shootings, public bombings, mall killings, and more individual murders which we may never even hear of. We look around and see a chaotic world and I look forward to the day when everything will be put right and in perfect order. Christ has said He will return and will at the perfect time. Until that day we must press on to do the work of exposing the wrongs of this world and not give up. I read this passage this morning and it gives me hope and strength.

Psalm 144:1-8 (ASV)
1 Blessed be Jehovah my rock, Who teacheth my hands to war, And my fingers to fight:
2 My loving-kindness, and my fortress, My high tower, and my deliverer; My shield, and he in whom I take refuge; Who subdueth my people under me.
3 Jehovah, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that thou makest account of him?
4 Man is like to vanity: His days are as a shadow that passeth away.
5 Bow thy heavens, O Jehovah, and come down: Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them; Send out thine arrows, and discomfit them.
7 Stretch forth thy hand from above; Rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, Out of the hand of aliens;
8 Whose mouth speaketh deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
