Peer pressure
In Daniel chapter 3 there is a story of three men. These three men, (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego), were told to worship King Nebuchadnezzer. They are examples to us today of how to stand strong in your faith. The pressure to give in was great. Today we are faced with a pressure to conform to this world and the society associated with it. Each of us must make a decision to stand for what we believe in and face the consequences or to give in and fall in line with what those around us. Society says we must conform to the belief system they are feeding us. We are asked to give up our beliefs in favor of a "better" society. The predominate view in our country is not that of a Christian worldview, but a distorted view filled with our own made up religion. This distortion is brought on a little at a time. If God's direction is at 180 degrees and we travel along at 179 degrees, eventually we will be headed in a completely different direction from God without even realizing it. We need to rely on God's word- not changing it to conform to our humanist view, but standing strong. God gives direction and guidance in how to live life. The Bible tells us what to do and what not to do in order to give God glory. The Bible says "don't do this" not because God wants to keep something from us, He is really saying "don't hurt yourselves". These three men relied on God and knew that God was able to deliver them- and if God didn't deliver them they would still serve God. God has a plan- I know what He has done in the past, and I know what He will do in the future, so I need to trust Him today.
