The battle inside a decided war

Western culture has radically changed in the past twenty years. The number of people that believe in absolutes has dwindled. The battle between good and evil continues on, but if you listen to society the good side is on its way to defeat. This has an effect on how we see the culture. Television news is a business and newscasts are rewarded monetarily by higher ratings. Bad news brings higher ratings. We sometimes forget about the good things in our culture. We must also remember that our personal opinions do not represent good. There are some types of music that I don’t prefer. That doesn’t necessarily mean that God and I have the same preferences. When we sing hymns at church I always look at the bottom of the page to look at the date it was written. I have a tendency to think these hymns have been around forever. Warrior Champion

I have been following the story of a man through journal entries on the internet. It is an inspiring story. Larry Brakenhoff and his family were told he had a brain tumor the first week of July. He was admited and released from the hospital that week. He was able to preach at church that weekend (he is the pastor of a church in Alta Vista, Kansas). There have been many struggles over the past two weeks. He was scheduled to have surgery the following week but complications kept this from happening. He has moved to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. There were even complications with changing hospitals. They did the surgery this (Friday) morning. It was scheduled for 7:45am. Surgery was completed by 11;14am. The family talked with the surgeon and got a preliminary prognosis of a type of brain cancer. I'm waiting for the next journal entry. In spite of these struggles and this illness, every entry in their journal is filled with hope. Not of hope for healing, but of a hope of eve
